This curriculum is tailored to develop a broad range of practical skills, from identifying patients’ access and support requirements to engaging in rehabilitation planning and addressing concerns related to work health and safety (WHS), community access, and daily living activities. By successfully completing this course, students will not only enhance their knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process but also acquire the ability to actively participate in the creation of rehabilitation programmes that cater to the unique needs of patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries or those requiring manual therapies.
Central to the course is the emphasis on collaborative practice, where students are introduced to the integral part of working alongside delegating Allied Health Professionals to confirm and implement rehabilitation plans. Lessons are meticulously structured to enable students to undertake their own research, foster problem-solving skills, and apply exercise prescription effectively. Through a combination of taught sessions, practical exercises, and group activities, students will gain a strong understanding of how to support injured athletes and others in their rehabilitation journeys, making use of soft tissue therapy and other manual therapies as appropriate. This educational pathway not only prepares students for careers in health and healthcare services but also equips them with the reflective practice needed to continually assess and enhance their approach to patient care, ensuring both safety and efficacy in their professional practice.
