This training explores the legal and ethical issues involved in dementia support. It covers important topics such as dignity of risk, neglect and abuse, compulsory reporting, wandering, missing persons and the use of restraint. The course focuses on protecting the rights, safety and wellbeing of people living with dementia while supporting workers to meet their legal and professional responsibilities.
By the end of this training, you will understand the key legal responsibilities in dementia support and how they apply in everyday practice. You will be able to make decisions about when to involve family, friends and carers, and communicate clearly when support responsibilities are shared. You will also know how to seek input and feedback from carers and families, and how to recognise, respond to and report abuse or neglect.
