This training focuses on effective ways to communicate with people living with dementia. It covers non-verbal communication, active listening, and how to respond to verbal fragments. The course also looks at communication with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. By learning these skills, support workers can provide assistance in a way that supports dignity, respect and understanding.
By the end of this training, you will know how to use both verbal and non-verbal communication to connect with people living with dementia. You will be able to listen actively, respond with patience, and support clients to make and share their own decisions. You will also learn how to encourage clients to provide feedback or raise concerns, ensuring their voice is heard and respected.
