This training focuses on supporting people with dementia in their everyday activities, such as bathing, dressing and eating. It highlights the importance of being prepared, following the individual plan, and building a genuine connection with the person. The course also looks at how to work together with the person and others to provide safe, respectful and effective support.
By the end of this training, you will know how to use the individual plan and your skills to provide personal care that meets each person’s needs and preferences. You will be able to support people with dementia in ways that maintain their dignity, identity and wellbeing. This includes meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs. The training will help you provide quality support with kindness, respect and confidence, in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
