Course Overview

Mealtimes in early learning are far more than daily routines, they are rich opportunities for connection, learning, and wellbeing. Positive mealtime environments help children develop healthy eating habits, build social and emotional skills through conversation, and foster independence as they make choices and practise self-help skills. When mealtimes are calm, respectful, and inclusive, they nurture children’s sense of belonging and security.

This course explores the foundations of safe and positive mealtime practices, from food safety standards and hygiene, to safe bottle preparation, and to creating calm, unhurried routines. This information aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS).
