What You’ll Learn

  • How to identify seizure types requiring immediate medical attention
  • How to implement appropriate responses to different seizure types
  • Strategies to support clients during and after seizure events

Course Overview

This is the third and final module in the epilepsy series. Building on the foundations from the first two modules, this course focuses on how to support people during seizures and respond effectively to different seizure types. It covers how to assist clients you already support, how to respond if a person unknown to you has a seizure, the correct terminology to use, managing onlookers, and looking after your own wellbeing as a support worker.

By completing this module, participants will be able to recognise when someone is experiencing a seizure and respond in a safe, positive, and person-centred way. The course equips workers to provide timely interventions, promote inclusion, and support individuals to achieve their personal goals. It also builds confidence in working with families, carers, and the wider community, while meeting the National Standards for Disability Services.
